Being a photographer this COVID -19 era

I love my profession as a photographer. COVID 19 has changed the regular normal into a new normal. Social distancing poses a new challenge to photography where there is a significant hands on involvement in terms of posing a  newborn subject or  trying to get an interesting angle by being in close proximity however, using a wide angle lens.

So the blazing question remains what to do to stay afloat practicing the profession that I have loved dearly and tenderly groomed over the years. Will I let COVID 19 take a full control of it or should I challenge my creative skills to go bit further out of my comfort zone!

Like many of my fellow photographers out there I was not willing to give up so easily. Frankly, situation looked quite grim! Events were not happening, newborn photoshoot was out of bounds, clients would be hesitant to hire a professional photographer as grip of COVID became stronger day by day.

As a photographer I really missed going outside for photo shoots. I kept reassuring myself, this is not the end. This is just a different time trying to test our endurance and adaptability  to a new age of social distancing and awareness to pathogens around us.

I did the following and still continue to do so. These help me to stay focussed and motivated during this challenging period.

• Have my camera ready nearby. Wildlife photography has no restrictions. With spring on board there is no shortage of colorful subjects and their offsprings.
• Flowers and insects are in bounty. This is a perfect time to try that macro lens and brush up the skills of close ups.
• Like most, I have thousands and thousands of pictures taken over the years. I found with more time on hand, I found myself digging through my years of work, finding some interesting shots that would capture my attention right away. As I have learnt newer techniques I would visualize those shots from yesteryears could be post processed in a different way. 
• Some of the pictures in this blog post have been brushed up a notch with newer post processing or editing techniques. The finished products came out amazing and completely different than what it was originally.
• I found this photography down time due to social distancing an useful excuse and used it as an advantage to boost up business networking, connecting with clients, fixing an existing website. I love to share with my clients my newly created digital form of art. Makes me happy to give something this awkwardly difficult times.
  It also gives me an opportunity to ask them if they would like to leave a review or a comment on my work or business, if they have liked or enjoyed my service or latest digital creation.
• Lastly but not the least I always like to keep my ears open for any announcement from federal or provincial government grants specifically directed for small business owners like-me and many others.
