How to pose a newborn baby with parents in studio-Winnipeg newborn photographer

If you are a newborn photographer, you know how keen and interested can parents be to take a part in that first photo session of a newborn life. They are excited and exhausted with the new life as parents. So the key thing while posing newborn with the parents is to keep it simple, fun, easily achievable poses.

I prefer to take some pictures with parents the moment baby arrives in studio. The parents are already informed to bring the baby in the first dress that they want to use during the session. Baby is warm and cozy and being held by parents to begin with can make the baby more at home sooner.

This also helps the parents to get acclimatize with the studio environment and the photographer especially if they have come the very first time to a photographer.

If the newborn is asleep half the battle is won already. Parents will be able to hold the baby with ease, without the baby getting fussy or moving a lot.

Challenge is when the baby is awake and takes longer to settle down. In that scenario I find the swaddle wraps work amazingly well. The baby feels secure and cozy down very soon. Movement is very minimal and zero level of fussiness.

Parents can pose in a relaxed manner and holding the baby is no longer difficult. Swaddle wrap needs to be tight enough the baby feels comfortable as if in the mothers`s womb.

Here are some poses I frequently like to use during a session whether the baby is asleep or awake. Both the parents can hold the baby or one of them will hold and the other can compliment the picture with all 3 of them in the frame.

This particular session the baby was asleep when arrived in studio but soon after was wide awake. He was not fussy but was aware of the new surrounding. He had his eyes wide open.

I took this opportunity to pose the baby resting his head on dad`s chest. This is an amazingly simple yet effective way for getting a good photo.

Mom was given to hold the baby wrapped in a swaddle. So she could hold the baby with ease and place in her arms securely while for posing for the photo session.

Poses planned for the parents were within their comfort level and easily achievable. Both the baby and parents had a wonderful session. Pictures at the end came out really beautiful.
