For in studio portrait session I take half body, full body and above waist photos. This gives the client an array of choice to pick the poses.

White shirt goes well with blue or grey jacket or coat. It also compliments the trouser either in jeans, or any other color.

For standing portrait poses my go to postures are both hands or one hand in pocket, hands clasped together in the front. 

Lights in studio and adjusting the angle of light is very important. This not only improves the dynamics of the subject also brings out the true essence of expression.
