Newborn session photography

Newborn photography - who can ignore those tiny feet, angelic smiles and cute poses. Every newborn session I have done has taught me something new. A way to get more creative, a way to get the right poses with minimally fussing the baby, and of course how to keep the parents Calm and getting their co-operation as much as possible.

A newborn session in a multigenerational family is fun but equally challenging. It takes some time to establish the trust that their grand child is in good hands and they can be a part of the photoshoot. The fun begins when they watch how the baby props being set up, and how cute their angel looks when obtained the perfect pose. Usually parents get so excited and start using their cell phones to capture the precious poses they do not want to miss. However, as a photographer I always remember that I have the first preference to find and use the right angle and distance to capture the moment. Occasionally I have to remind the parents politely that the booked session can be utilized efficiently if I am given the charge of capturing the fun first.

Newborn grandparents are equally keen to take part in the photoshoot as the newborn parents. That is why based on the number of participants I allocate certain time exclusively to the baby and separate time for the group session with baby where parents, siblings, grandparents can share one to one moment and photo captured as such.

I like to take as many photos as possible and during post processing decide which one to pick with the right expression. Digital backdropS are wonders and are an important part of my post processing routine. A session taken in a smaller space or a living room with objects visible in the background- digitally modifying the back ground are so much fun. It often reminds me the role of a magician creating an out of the world experience in front of his audience. Using the simplest tools to create a masterpiece.

My motto in newborn photography is keep exploring and keep creating. Use your imagination and creativity to the fullest.
