Ideas for a milestone first birthday pictures in studio-Winnipeg baby photographer

I had the opportunity to do a milestone and first bday picture for this happy one year old and I will share my experience with you.

To begin the session setting up a backdrop that compliments the occasion is important. This I find is helpful especially in building up the ambiance for the family and baby when they arrive at the studio.

Birthday milestone baby usually arrives wearing the first dress so the session starts right away. During this time I will mention to take the outfits out and display them so in my mind I can chalk out the sequence of the session and which outfit for baby will go next.

I have used artificial cupcakes in this occasion. The first few pictures taken were usually with the birthday back drop and the cupcakes in frame.

Parents did not want the birthday backdrop for all his photos. So I had an alternate in place. One year old many times are just starting to stand and walk. So posing them sitting on the carpet or spreads works good.

Occasionally I will have a small chair or stool for support if the baby is able to stand holding that.

If the baby likes to crawl then that also can give some great poses for pictures.

I will also often ask the parents to call the baby so he can slowly walk towards them. This is fantastic for capturing those first steps and wobbly walk.

In this session parents had specific outfits they wanted to use with bday backdrop and later with other outfits. Pictures turned out great and the birthday boy was happy during the entire session.
