This one year old precious angel was a happy, independent to sit or stand and did not mind at all changes her outfits and accessories for the session.
One would think it is the best case scenario to get all the pictures desired Wrong...she is still a one year old!
If you are planning a session to shoot first birthday pictures these are the important tips to keep in mind. Time is essence- first half an hour is the best time to capture the birthday celebrant`s attention. Any time after that chances are one year old will be tired, trying to crawl or run out of the frame, get attentive to everything else around her except the camera and photographer.
They may also get hungry or tired especially if the session is around their nap time.
Many parents will envision the first birthday pictures to be perfectly according to their imagination such as baby smiling at the camera every time the shutter is clicked, not to put finger in the mouth, dresses showing the best with frills or folds placed perfectly or the baby to be standing and posing with every outfit.
It is always a good idea to let the parents know that realistically for a one year old these things are rarely achieved from the start of the session to the finish because you have the baby's limited attention span. One year old can only sit or stand or pay attention only for a fraction of minutes.
In fact if they are forced to do something the baby is not willing to follow, can lead to a unhappy and crying baby that can spoil the entire session!
I have used two different birthday decors and banner for this one year old for her pictures. The props were chosen based on her comfort and willingness to sit or stand.
Pictures came out beautiful and parents loved them.
