Birthday photo session of one year old baby girl- Winnipeg family photographer

First birthday is big and one of the first milestone in baby`s life. It is also very special for the parents as many would invest months of planning how to execute the event while a photographer will be there for capturing the moments.

My one year old client on her birthday was absolutely a joy to work with. She was smiling the whole time. There were ample of birthday decors and accessories around her to keep her busy while giving me plenty of opportunity to continue clicking pics.

On first birthday, baby is either happy and smiling or terrified of the new surroundings which includes the photographer and the camera.

I would like to point out a few tips and tricks that helped me to capture the candid moments of a one year olds milestone event without making her overly conscious that someone is continuously following her with a camera and flash.

Parents in this case were very co-operative and stayed at a distance. This allowed me to have plenty of one on one opportunity to capture some special moment. 

One year old are usually starting to walk on their own. While birthday girl was trying to walk towards her parents, allowed me to capture her smiles and stride. 

Plenty of balloons and streamers were on the floor. The birthday girl was positioned to sit within, gave me some cool opportunity to capture her moment trying to touch the objects near by.

Another clever planning on behalf of the parents was arranging a high chair for her to sit on. Instead of a big chunky cake (which can frighten a one year old because of bold color or the size) her parents placed a cupcake in front of her. This allowed me to position my camera such that which ever side she tried to taste the cupcake I could get a clear visual to click the shutter.

My captures were beautiful and surely unique. Baby was able to touch and hold the cupcake easily, tried eating it without any fuss and as a photographer I could not have asked for a. better alternative.
