Lenses to choose for indoor baby pictures, Winnipeg family photographer

I have chosen three different scenarios from three different casual shoots done inside a regular household. Age of my clients for the pictures 8-18 month old. All pictures were taken inside apartment buildings.

Lenses are one of the important tools in the life of a photographer. Especially if the photos were taken in a small square footage space with limited natural lights, choosing the lenses can capture some beautiful memories.

Scenario 1. Baby was playing in the colourful playpen. I thought adding some color will definitely add a uniqueness to this shot. While the baby was relaxed in her environment, the coloured components around her provided a sense of frame within my camera frame.

For indoor photos , I use my canon flash EX600-RT with a diffuser. Because of limited space I have used a canon 35mm prime that gave me enough room for this capture.

Scenario 2.  Baby was able to walk and stand on her own. I loved her expressive and big eyes, I tried to capture the innocence in her face with bit of a runny nose she was having that day.

She was very curious and would try to touch the camera. Space was limited however for this shot I used a canon 50mm prime. The windows were not big and the room was not very well lit.

For small spaces without much natural lights my go to is a 35 or 50 mm prime accompanied by canon EX600-RT. 50 is great for portrait style capture which focuses mostly on the face. 35 mm is able to add the surroundings a bit more and give some more details to the story as captured in the frame.

Scenario 3. Baby was able to sit on her own but not stand. A princess tiara was added to add a little flair to the beautiful face.

Since she was sitting on the carpet I had the camera at her eye level. For this photo I have used a Sigma 24-70mm, f2.8 for Canon. The zoom with f2.8 not only was helpful in this low light situation but also helped me to adjust my distance from her without being too close to the subject yet capture the natural expressions on her face.

All 3 pictures are not processed for any airbrush flawless effect therefore shows some some minor imperfections such as redness on the face, a slight runny nose and some skin spots. This could represent a scenario of a photo that one would take in an every day routine life and wanting to try out good lenses that would be perfect for smaller spaces and low light conditions.
