How to do a session with a one year old participant- Winnipeg baby photographer

It was a delightful session that included a one year old boy and his parents. He celebrated his first birthday just a week ago but mom and dad wanted to have a in studio photo session  for his first birthday as well as a family session to cherish this special occasion and memory forever.

One year old birthday celebrant arrived in my studio cozily napping in his car seat along with his parents but soon woke up as I started setting up the lights and backdrops.

For one year old it is very common that they will be curious and looking around the studio but love to be held and in parents arm. The first 15 minutes is the time to get single solo of the participant before the baby becomes very aware of his new surroundings and want to be held by his parents and not leave their side.

I had already set up the birthday backdrop which had the letter one written on. It was adorned with teddy bear, balloons and a bit of a golden brown hint perfect for this one year old birthday boy. After the single portrait shots while he was starting to walk towards his parents, I took a few while he was sitting and crawling.

Baby became aware very soon that he is in an unfamiliar environment and would not let mom and dad go away or pose solo.

So my sequence of the session changed to a family session where the baby was comfortable with mom and day and yet look very cute in the frame. I had a few different types of backdrops where parents could pose with the baby sitting and standing.

Photos turned amazing and the parents were really happy with the result.
